Identity Digital and Anguillan Partnership Strengthens .AI While Supporting Local Growth

At Identity Digital, we are committed to breaking down barriers to digital inclusion and increasing connectivity to the online world. This commitment extends not only to our registrar partners and their customers, but also to the communities that we serve. Our recent partnership with the Government of Anguilla (GOA) is no exception. 

Last month, we announced our teaming up with GOA to sustainably manage the explosive growth of the .AI top-level domain (TLD). Demand for .AI has recently skyrocketed, growing nearly 400% in the last five years, due to the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. It has since become a large revenue driver for Anguilla as a result, accounting for 20% of the government’s total revenue in 2023 alone. Such hypergrowth requires a battle-tested, highly scalable and secure registry platform.

This is where we come in. As the new stewards of .AI, Identity Digital provides the necessary infrastructure and capabilities to enhance the sustainability, resilience, and security of the TLD. Our partnership with GOA will not only bring much needed security and scalability, it will also establish a sustainable future for Anguilla, and enable the country to leverage its digital assets for long-term prosperity.

Here’s why.  

Reinvesting revenue into local communities

We anticipate that our stewardship of .AI, under the supervision of GOA, will further increase the revenue the government receives from the .AI TLD. This will allow the country to reinvest funds into community programs, improve the quality of life for residents and reduce the island’s reliance on external aid. 

Identity Digital has committed to invest in capacity building for Anguillans and for Anguilla. We will work closely with GOA, building a program that brings sponsorships and new opportunities for learning for the island’s youth, building capacity in computer networking and critical internet infrastructure, and bringing much needed prominence to Anguilla as an emerging epicenter for technical excellence in the Caribbean.

As the world increasingly embraces artificial intelligence, the .AI TLD will continue to be a central hub for innovation.
